  • Physiotherapists are experts in assessing both new and old injuries, providing treatments to reduce pain and improve the way you move. To do this physiotherapists employ a number of treatment techniques. Good physiotherapy always involves education so that you understand your problem and how to get better. Physiotherapy treatment techniques to reduce pain and rehabilitate injuries can include joint mobilization and manipulation, massage, trigger point therapy, dry needling, taping and exercise.

  • Goolwa Physio are thrilled to provide physiotherapy services to clients who receive funding from the NDIS (National Disability Insurance Agency). We regularly work with NDIS clients to formulate a management plan and assist them in achieving their health goals. Goolwa Physio are able to service NDIS clients who are self-managed or third-party managed.

    LEARN MORE

  • Physiotherapy plays a vital role in the management of neurological conditions. Neurological conditions include stroke, multiple sclerosis, Parkinson’s Disease, multiple systems atrophy, spinal cord injury, acquired brain injury, dizziness, dementia, functional neurological disorder and motor neurone disease.

Goolwa physio provides specialist services such as the PD Warrior program and MS hydrotherapy groups. We have recently introduced Tam Dandridge to our team who is our primary neurological physiotherapist. Tam brings 7 years of neuro experience to the clinic, having worked in acute care and rehabilitation settings. Tam is passionate about facilitating innovative treatment plans to realise client goals and provides in-home visits as well as in our well-equipped clinic space.

  • All physiotherapists at Goolwa Physio are trained in manual or hands on therapy. Whilst it is not appropriate for all patients all of the time it is often a cornerstone of treatment together with education and exercise prescription.

  • Goolwa Physio offer women's health physiotherapy services by our female Physiotherapist Chloe. Chloe is able to assess your problem and provide a recommended treatment management plan. Women's health issues we see at the clinic include pelvic floor weakness, incontinence and musculoskeletal pain pre and post childbirth. Tegan is another physio at Goolwa Physio who enjoys working with our female patients.

  • Orthopaedic surgeries such as joint replacements, rotator cuff repair and knee arthroscopies often require physiotherapy before and after the operation. Pre and post-operative physiotherapy is often requested by surgeons and can help improve the outcome of the surgery, as well as get you better quicker. At Goolwa Physio the rehabilitation process involves education and exercise for reducing pain, decreasing stiffness, improving movement and strengthening muscles.

  • As we get older our body changes, meaning our healthcare needs also change. Aged Care Physiotherapists are experts in assessing and treating the elderly with a focus on keeping them active, managing pain and reducing falls. Just because someone is older does not mean that they should have to be in pain or be inactive. Physiotherapists at Goolwa Physio provide services to older clients in the clinic, in their homes and also in residential aged care facilities.

  • Our physiotherapy team are trained in assessing and treating sports injuries and getting people back to their active pursuits quickly. This involves making an accurate diagnosis of injuries that have occurred whilst playing sport or exercising. In the acute stage of an injury physiotherapy is focused on reducing pain and swelling. This is followed by techniques to assist speeding the healing process and getting you moving again. Good sports physiotherapy should involve rehabilitation exercises that are closely related to the activity or sport you want to return to. This is called sports specific exercise. This is to ensure that you are adequately prepared to recommence your sport as fast as possible but limit the risk of re-injury.

  • At Goolwa Physio our group exercise therapy programs have a maximum of 4 to 6 participants supervised by a physiotherapist. Each participant has an individualised program. Programs incorporate exercises that are great for improving posture, strength, flexibility and for rehabilitating injuries. Our physiotherapists use specialized equipment such as reformers and a trapeze table to provide low impact exercise options for all clients.

  • Education is a vital part of good quality health care. Physiotherapists at Goolwa Physio thoroughly educate their patients about their injury or condition during private consultations to ensure that people understand their problem and what to do to get better fast. Goolwa Physio also provides education sessions to groups and business in the community.

  • The GLA:D™ Australia Program is an exercise and education program developed by researchers in Denmark for people with HIP or KNEE OSTEOARTHRITIS. This program uses the latest evidence in osteoarthritis research, as well as feedback from people with osteoarthritis and trainers on what works in the real world to help patients with osteoarthritis symptoms.

  • Hydrotherapy involves undertaking rehabilitation exercises in water. Exercising in water has many benefits including reducing the load placed on the body. This often means that people can exercise with less pain for longer and harder than they could do on land. Goolwa Physio can set up hydrotherapy programs at the Fleurieu Aquatic Centre, whereby clients are stepped through individualized hydrotherapy programs that are specific to their needs.

Goolwa Physio also run a weekly hydrotherapy group at the Fleurieu Aquatic Centre for clients of the MS Society. The program includes a combination of water-based balance, strength and endurance exercises for clients with Multiple Sclerosis.

  • Goolwa Physio is one of the few clinics in SA that are a licensed PD Warrior Facility. PD Warrior is an exercise program designed specifically for people with Parkinson's Disease and aims to slow the progression of PD Symptoms. The program involves fun, high intensity exercises under the supervision of our trained PD Warrior Physiotherapist Stuart.

  • Goolwa Physio offers pre employment functional assessments to aid in organisations recruitment process to ensure reduced risk of work place injuries.

  • Dry needling involves placing fine sterilized needles into trigger points or taught bands of muscle. It can be a very effective treatment for reducing muscle spasm and pain. Goolwa Physio have physiotherapists trained in dry needling. They undertake a thorough examination and screening process on all patients. This ensures that dry needling is performed safely and is as effective as possible.

  • Functional Movement Screening is a method of looking at how well someone performs movements that are important for everyday activities and athletics pursuits. These movements include squatting, lunging, stepping over a hurdle, mobility of the shoulders and stability of the core muscles. Functional Movement Screening helps to highlight differences of movement quality between the left and right sides of the body, as well as sub optimal movement patterns.
